Hey everyone! I'm eager to start using Ubuntu on my computer, which is primarily designed for Windows. However, I've run into several compatibility issues, including problems with my Wi-Fi driver, kernel freeze-ups, and more. Has anyone else faced these kinds of challenges? If so, what are the best strategies to make Linux work on hardware that's not natively compatible? I'd love to hear your experiences and suggestions!

I totally get your struggle! If your PC isn't a super new model, there's a good chance others have successfully run Linux on it. It might take a bit of research, but try searching online for documentation or user tips specific to your machine. Don't give up! Just out of curiosity, what model are you using? What Wi-Fi adapter are you trying to get to work?

Check out the Arch Wiki, they have a great guide on your specific model. It can offer a ton of useful info and tips that could help you fix your compatibilities!

Which version of Ubuntu are you trying to install? This might help narrow down some solutions for you!

I think I tried something around version 20.0. I'm currently on Windows, but honestly, I'm just tired of the endless updates and how it installs apps mixed with junk. Sometimes I really miss using Linux!

Make sure you have the restricted drivers enabled, as that could be causing some of your issues. You can find more details on this site: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedDrivers. You might also want to run 'sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall' to automatically install recommended drivers.
