How can I set my SSD as the default boot device and format my HDD?

Hey everyone, I just installed an SSD and loaded Windows 11 onto it. Now, I'm trying to set my SSD as the default boot device. However, when I disconnect my HDD, my computer doesn't recognize the SSD, even though I've changed the boot order in the BIOS. Instead, I get the error "Boot Device Not Found." I want to format my HDD to use it solely for storage, without an OS on it, but I'm facing issues. When I attempted to use DiskPart to delete partitions, I got a message saying, "Clean is not allowed on the disk containing the current boot, system, pagefile, crashdump, or hibernation volume." Any insights or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you've set the boot order correctly in the BIOS. Just having Windows on the SSD doesn’t mean the PC will boot from it automatically. Look for tutorials on changing boot settings specific to your motherboard model. Once that's fixed, you'll be able to format the HDD without issues.

I already changed the boot order, but it didn't work. Maybe I'll try unplugging the HDD and reinstalling Windows on the SSD.

It sounds like your bootloader is still on the HDD. To use the HDD for storage, you need to move the boot manager to your SSD. Check out this guide on how to do that: [How to move the Windows UEFI boot manager.](https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-move-the-uefi-boot-manager-from-one-drive/caad4d25-e046-4009-a70a-07fe6f952044) Let me know if it helps!

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a try.
