How Can I Switch to 5GHz WiFi on My New Computer?

I'm trying to boost my WiFi speeds on my newly built computer. However, when I check the settings in Device Manager, the only options available to me are Beacon Interval, Preamble Mode, and Wireless Mode. So far, I haven't found any useful guidance on YouTube or elsewhere to change this, and I'm stuck with just 30mbps download speeds. Since I can't use an Ethernet connection, how can I access the right settings to connect to the 5GHz band?

While 5GHz can offer faster speeds, it's also more prone to interruptions from walls and distance. If you're stuck at 30mbps on 2.4GHz, check if the 5GHz network is worth it or if there are other WiFi issues you need to address.

Does your 5GHz network show up when you try to connect? Also, just so you know, 2.4GHz can typically handle speeds over 30mbps depending on your plan.

Make sure your WiFi router actually supports the 5GHz band. You’ll need to select the correct WiFi network, not just mess around in Device Manager. That's not where you'll find the settings you're looking for.

The network adapter's advanced settings are where you should be looking, not in Device Manager. To find it, right-click on your adapter in Network Connections, select Properties, and then go to the Advanced tab.

Okay, but where exactly do I find that?
