Hey everyone! I'm in the process of installing Linux Mint on my HP Pavilion 15, which currently runs Windows 11. During the installation, I get a prompt to disable Intel RTS. I've gone into my boot settings and the only options I have are under UEFI Device Config, where I can find Intel RTS, then Intel Optane. From there, I can disable it and choose whether to preserve user data.
I also noticed there's an option to disable RTS in Windows itself. Is that what I need to disable? I'm aiming to dual boot and transition off Windows gradually, so I'm making sure to back up all my data. However, I'm concerned: will disabling this wipe my Windows boot and force me to reinstall Windows and also Linux from USB? And will my data be preserved, or should I look into data recovery options? Thanks for your help, Linux community! Let me know if you need more info.

Disabling Intel RTS shouldn’t erase your data. However, it's important to switch Windows to use AHCI mode, which involves a few steps you need to follow. I’ve done this a couple of times, and I've never lost data, but always have proper backups ready just in case. Also, make a Windows installer USB with the Media Creation Tool before you start any changes. You can find good guidance on this process online.
Is disabling Intel Optane the same process as switching to AHCI for me? I don’t see the option in my BIOS settings.
