I'm a complete beginner looking to install Linux on my 128 GB USB drive. The reason I'm doing this is that my parents think gaming is the same as having viruses, so I need a way to play games from a bootable thumb drive. Here are the specs of my laptop: it has an Nvidia RTX 4060, an Intel i7 13650HX processor, and 24 GB of RAM. I'm also hoping to install some apps, specifically Chrome (or any other good browser), Minecraft (I'll be using servers, so speed isn't a huge concern), and a decent image editor. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Installing Linux on a thumb drive for gaming might not be the best idea. USB drives generally have slower read and write speeds compared to SSDs, and they wear out quickly with heavy use. For playing games and running an OS, you'd be better off using a good quality external USB SSD or even a regular internal SSD in a USB enclosure. Just make sure to plug it into a USB 3.x port for better performance! That way, you can boot Linux and play games without too much hassle.
Definitely! Those external SSDs are super fast and way more reliable for this kind of stuff.
