I'm setting up my new Sapphire Nitro+ 9070xt GPU tonight and I'm a bit puzzled about plugging in the 12vHPWR cable. So far, after ensuring it's oriented correctly, I had to apply a hefty amount of force to get it to go in. Now, I'm wondering if connecting my GPU, which uses PCIe 3.1, to a PSU that's only PCIe 3.0 will require the same amount of effort. Should I just push it in and hope it works, or would it be better to use the 6x2 to 3x8 adapter that came with it? I might have to adjust the cable management in my NZXT H5 Flow case to make everything fit, but I've seen it's doable. What concerns me is the connection since there's no distinct click when I plug it in, which seems odd to me. Any advice?

You should definitely use the 12vHPWR cable from your PSU directly! Just make sure it's seated in there securely. If it feels a bit rough getting it in, that's normal. Just don’t force it too hard, but it should go in with a decent amount of pressure without feeling like you’re going to break anything. Doing the install outside the case can be a good idea if you’re worried about stress on the PCIe connection with a heavy GPU. Just be careful!
Thanks for the tip! I might try that and see if the connection is easier outside the case.
