How Quickly Can I Learn Azure If I’m Already Experienced with Other Clouds?

I'm a senior software engineer with over 20 years in the tech industry, including roles in DevOps and system administration. I've dabbled in Azure a bit back in 2015 and 2018, but most of my experience lies with AWS, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and a few others. I'm currently considering a job that requires Azure expertise. Given my background, how difficult will it be for me to quickly learn Azure? Is it realistic to master it well enough to ace an interview in just two weeks, or should I have realistic expectations about that timeframe?

Two weeks? That seems tight! Understanding Azure well enough for interview questions is probably doable, but for true expertise, you'll need to dive deeper over a longer period. If they see decent effort, most interviewers will understand you’re transitioning to a new platform, especially with your background.

Your extensive experience should make the learning curve a bit easier. Azure might feel like a breeze compared to Oracle Cloud, as long as you dedicate time to understand its specific setups and features. Don't stress too much about being perfect in two weeks; just focus on being functional enough for the interview.

Honestly, while you can get a good grasp of the surface-level stuff in two weeks, becoming an 'Azure expert' will take longer. Each cloud provider has its quirks, and Azure has some notable differences that might catch you off guard. Just don't expect to be an expert immediately after such a short time.

Right, the platforms might feel similar, but their implementations can have some 'aha' moments that you'll need time to figure out.

It really depends on your learning style, but with your experience, you could likely get a working understanding sooner than most. They may not expect you to be an expert right off the bat but showing you know the core concepts and differences will go a long way. Just remember, Azure's IAM setup is a bit tricky compared to others, so focus on that!

You can definitely learn the basics of Azure within two weeks, especially with your background in other cloud services. Just be honest in your interviews about your experience and your willingness to adapt. Companies value past experiences and ownership over specific tech expertise. If you position it right, you could describe your plan for learning Azure if you're hired, which shows initiative.

Exactly! Two weeks can be enough to get the foundational differences understood. Just be upfront and show your eagerness!
