I've been using an iPhone X for about five years, but unfortunately, it got really cracked a month ago. The bottom half of the screen is still functional, but the top half isn't responding at all, which is super inconvenient since I can't press the last digit of my 6-number passcode. I haven't had service on it for almost a year, so I can't send or receive calls or texts. I finally got a new iPhone and service in the U.S., but when I tried to sign into my iCloud account, it required verification through a call or text to my old number, which I can't access. I never added a trusted number for recovery and can't use Siri or a computer to unlock my phone since that also needs to be activated first. My iCloud account is really important, and I'm hoping to avoid creating a new one. Any advice or guidance would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!

I know money might be tight, but getting the screen fixed could really solve your problem. Some repair shops even let you ‘rent’ a replacement screen just while you're there, so you'd have a chance to enter your code. It could save you a lot of hassle!
Since your Apple account has Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) set up, it requires both your password and a verification code sent to your trusted device or number. Since you can't access that number, your best shot is to start the Account Recovery process. Make sure to use your new number when prompted during the recovery, and hopefully, that will get you back into your account! For details, you can check Apple's support pages on 2FA and Account Recovery.
You don’t need a phone number if you have a backup email linked to your account. Just a heads up!
This may sound silly, but have you tried rotating the phone? Sometimes that can shift the layout!
I can’t believe I didn’t think of that! But my lock is stuck in vertical mode because the top half of my screen isn’t working. Good thought though!

So, I should just go to account recovery with my new number and go from there?
