I received an unexpected text claiming to be an Apple Account verification code and warning me not to share it. I did not request a login, and then received a second code only a few minutes later. Does this mean someone is trying to access my account, or could the messages be fraudulent?

This sounds like Apple’s two-factor authentication doing its job. Someone may know your password and is attempting to sign in, which is triggering the verification codes. Change your Apple Account password immediately using your device settings or Apple’s official website, and make sure the password is unique. Also review your trusted devices, account details, and any recovery notifications. Don’t share the codes or follow links in unexpected messages.

I’ve changed the password and checked the account. I also removed the computer I was worried about, but I’m still unsure how anyone could have obtained the old password since it was written down and kept private.
