I just upgraded from an iPhone 13 Pro to a 17 Pro today and I've always had my Messages synced via iCloud. Right now, my new phone is syncing, but it's only showing messages from the last ten minutes, and it's stressing me out a bit.
On my old 13 Pro, it shows I've been signed out of iMessage, which is confusing since I still own it, but all my old messages are still visible there and on my MacBook. Is there anything I can do to get my iMessage history to show up on my new phone, or should I just wait it out?

But what about those of us using the good old physical connection or device-to-device transfer instead of iCloud? I’ve noticed my messages aren’t syncing automatically like before - anyone else having this issue?
Just hang tight! It usually takes a little time for everything to sync up properly after a new phone setup. Your messages should start appearing soon enough.
