I hadn't used my 7th-generation iPad for about six months. It had been working normally, but when I plugged it into a wall charger today, it started cycling through a boot loop. After trying again later, I connected it to my Windows MSI laptop with iTunes installed, but the computer doesn't detect the iPad or respond when it's plugged in. The iPad does react to the wall charger. I've tried the original cable and another USB-to-Lightning cable, and the laptop recognizes my iPhone normally. What else can I try to get the iPad into recovery mode?

Make sure you’re using the recovery-mode steps for an iPad with a Home button: connect it to the computer, then hold the Home button and the top button together until the recovery screen appears. Keep holding through the Apple logo. On Windows, iTunes should then show an option to update or restore the iPad. If it still doesn’t appear, try another USB port, preferably directly on the laptop, and use a known-good data cable rather than one meant only for charging.
