I'm building a gaming setup with an i5 14400F processor, and I'm trying to decide between getting 16GB of DDR5 RAM or 32GB of DDR4 RAM. The price for both options is about the same with the motherboards as well. Which option should I go for?

Honestly, more RAM tends to be better than just faster RAM. Even if most games say they only need 16GB, Windows keeps getting bigger and more demanding. Plus, if you might do anything productivity-related with the PC, having that extra RAM can really help out in the future.

I'm leaning towards DDR4 myself. You could also wait for DDR5 prices to hit a lower point later on. If you're feeling bold, though, splurge on 32GB of DDR5 right now and be set for the future. And don't forget to invest in an NVMe SSD too!

Remember, DDR5 might be faster but if you only get one stick of 16GB, you'll be in single-channel mode. 32GB DDR4 with dual-channel will offer better performance for gaming. However, if you plan to upgrade, starting with DDR5 might be worth considering.

If you're working on a budget, DDR5 might be the way to go. It gives you better future-proofing since it supports potential upgrades later. Just keep in mind that it limits CPU upgrades down the line. If you can manage it, consider going for 16GB DDR5 now and adding more RAM later if needed.

If you think you'll need 32GB within a year, go with the DDR4. If you're not sure yet, then 16GB DDR5 would be a smart choice. You could always upgrade later when you know your needs better.
