Is 700mm Rack Depth Enough for My Dell Servers?

Hey everyone! I'm setting up a new variable depth rack and was thinking about going with a depth of 700mm. We usually use Dell PowerEdge R640 and R760xs servers. I found this PDF that suggests 700mm might be suitable, but I'm wondering if there's anything else I should consider. This is my first time doing this, and I want to make sure I'm making the right choice. Any advice?

I recommend going with a depth of 1070mm. That extra room is really important for managing power cables, PDUs, and additional equipment like fiber switches. It's also good to have space for storage servers and GPUs. Check out the APC standard for racks; you definitely want to avoid open racks. A lockable rack not only looks professional but also keeps everything organized and secure.

Why even consider open racks? It's much better to have everything inside a closed cabinet for neatness and accessibility.
