I have ChatGPT Plus and use it a lot for my work as an AI engineer. It helps me stay organized, especially when I'm dealing with specific projects. Instead of starting fresh each time, I keep adding to the same chat to maintain context.
However, I've noticed that as I pile on more messages in a single chat, ChatGPT begins to lag. I'm talking about delays in processing my prompts, slower content generation, and even frequent 'page unresponsive' warnings. I don't think it's my machine causing the issue; I have a solid setup with Chrome, 32GB of RAM, an RTX 3050, and a Ryzen 5 chip. I tried reinstalling Chrome and even used other browsers, but the slowdowns continued.
Interestingly, when I tested a long prompt in a new chat thread, it ran smoothly without any lag. This makes me think that the slowdown has more to do with accumulated data in a single conversation than with the length of the prompts themselves.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah, I've noticed that too! Keeping all the context in one long conversation can really slow things down. I usually switch chats if I feel it's getting sluggish, and it seems to fix it. It's like the system gets overwhelmed with too much data!
