I've recently switched to using Gemini for my programming needs since the release of GPT-3 and GPT-4 mini-high, as I found Gemini to be much more effective for my tasks. The o4-mini-high version was particularly disappointing for me. I'm curious if any updates have occurred since then that might change my mind about using GPT, or if I should consider other large language models (LLMs) for programming tasks.

Honestly, I’m not sure why you found o4-mini-high to be a disaster. I think it's pretty solid outside of coding tasks. I’ve had a decent experience with it overall.
Gemini 2.5 Pro is definitely highly rated, especially if you can access the experimental or preview versions, which are said to be even better. Worth a look!
While it seems like your post title might be a bit off, if you're looking for alternatives to GPT for programming, I’d highly recommend checking out Gemini 2.5 Pro. It's been performing quite well lately!
I totally disagree with the sentiment about Gemini 2.5; I think it's pretty lackluster. I’ve been using both o3 and o4 mini-high, and they’ve been fantastic for my programming needs!
