I recently switched to using Fedora 43 with KDE on my PC and now I'm looking to do the same thing on my laptop. However, I want to back up my existing Windows installation just in case I need it again in the future. I've heard that having both Linux and Windows on the same drive can lead to issues, and that Linux might somehow affect the Windows system. The only storage option I have available for backing up my Windows is the SSD where my Linux is currently installed. So, I'm wondering if it's safe to back up my Windows on that SSD and how I would properly partition it for this purpose.

Windows doesn't recognize Linux file systems, like the Btrfs that Fedora uses, so you’ll need to resize your root partition and create a new NTFS partition for Windows. As for safety, it really depends on what exactly you're backing up and the method you're using.

I want to back up my whole Windows image on the SSD that my Linux is currently running on.
