I've got a bit of a dilemma with my laptop. Its battery seems to be dying – it jumps between random percentages to 100, then drops really fast, which is super annoying. I'm wondering if it's okay to just leave it connected to the charger all the time while I deal with this. Is that safe? Should I be doing something differently?

Absolutely! I've done that with my 15-year-old laptop, and it works fine! Just keep an eye on the battery's condition, though.
I had a similar problem, but my laptop refused to run without the battery inserted. It was frustrating to keep resetting the date and time! Have you checked yours?
If you're going to leave it plugged in all the time, it might be safer to remove the battery. There's a risk it could swell or worse, explode. Just to be on the safe side!
Most people just leave theirs plugged in if they're near a power outlet. New laptops have built-in software to prevent overcharging. But if your battery is done for, taking it out while keeping the laptop powered on is the way to go. You definitely want to avoid any risk of a faulty battery!
Yeah, you can leave it plugged in permanently if you need to. However, if the battery is really dying, I'd advise removing it entirely while keeping the laptop plugged in. If that's not an option, getting a new battery is a good idea too.
