Is Jon Duckett’s 2014 JavaScript Book Still Relevant?

I'm thinking about using Jon Duckett's book "JavaScript & jQuery" from 2014 to learn JavaScript. I have zero experience with JS right now, but I'm drawn to his books because I'm a visual learner. The way the content is presented—with colorful pages and examples of code alongside results—really helps me understand. I'm currently enjoying learning HTML and CSS, but I'm wondering if Duckett's book is too outdated. Has JavaScript changed significantly since 2014, or is it still valuable to learn from that book? Should I look for something newer instead?

JavaScript had a massive update in 2015, introducing tons of new features and syntax. I'd recommend looking for a more recent book for learning, especially if you want to get the best practices right from the start. Using an old book might lead you to adopt outdated techniques.

Got it, thanks! Any suggestions for newer books that are also visually engaging?
