Is My Acer Laptop SSD Failing Again?

I own an Acer Aspire 7 A715-76G laptop, and unfortunately, it seems like my SSD is failing again. I've already had it serviced under warranty for the same issue before. Right now, I'm experiencing frequent freezes, and the laptop often requires a force shutdown by holding the power button. There are also occasional BSODs, but they're not as common as they were previously. I'm having issues booting the laptop unless I disable the VMD controller in the BIOS, which I can access using CTRL+S. I'm planning to get it serviced again soon and consider selling it afterward since using it has become quite frustrating. Before I get it fixed, I'd like to understand what might be going wrong this time since the warranty is almost up.

It sounds like you're dealing with a classic case of a failing SSD, and those symptoms definitely line up with that. Before you take it in for servicing, I’d recommend checking for any dump files related to the BSODs if you can boot into Windows or Safe Mode. These files can give insights into what might be causing the crashes. You can find them in C:WindowsMinidump. If you have the files, zip the folder and upload it to a file sharing service—something like mediafire or catbox.moe should work since it seems Reddit blocks some hosts. Having those ready can really help the technicians diagnose the problem!

Make sure to check that directory for multiple dump files if possible; having more can help pinpoint the issue more accurately. Also, consider changing the dump type to Small Memory Dump, as that will give consistent results.

Wow, that's really frustrating! SSD issues can be such a hassle. If it’s under warranty, definitely get it serviced, but do mention the freezing and BSOD symptoms in detail. Sometimes they can upgrade the SSD to a newer model if the one you have is known to fail. Just make sure they know this has happened before!
