I recently built my PC about a month ago, mixing in some secondhand parts, including my GPU. Lately, I've been experiencing black screen issues on my monitor while gaming. The first incident occurred while I was playing Valorant, and now it happens with other games like GOW and even Roblox. During these black screens, the PC continues to run, and I can still hear the game audio, which makes me think it's a GPU issue. I initially suspected overheating, so I ran a stress test using FurMark, but the GPU temperature was around 65°C when the black screen happened, so that didn't seem to be the issue. I've carried out basic troubleshooting steps, like reseating the RAM and GPU, updating my BIOS, and trying different GPU driver versions using DDU, but nothing seems to help. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare GPU or monitor to test for faults. Here are my specs:
- CPU: R5 5600
- GPU: RX 590 GME (underclocked to 120W)
- RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB
- PSU: MAG A550BN 550W
Any insight would be appreciated! Just to clarify, the black screens are persistent and won't go away unless I force reboot my PC.

I had a similar problem with my setup, and it actually turned out to be related to the monitor settings rather than the GPU itself. Check your monitor’s refresh rate settings. You mentioned it’s at 144Hz—are you using the right cable for that? Some cables can’t support higher refresh rates and can lead to display issues.
It sounds like the GPU might be facing some serious issues. While the RX 590 isn't super common, it's known for overheating, especially since it's the highest model of its series. Have you checked for any physical damage or dust buildup? Also, make sure your power supply is delivering enough power consistently. Another thing to consider is whether driver support has been fully retired for your GPU—for older models like yours, outdated drivers can lead to major issues too.
Also, have you tried disabling any overclocks and checking your display settings? Sometimes, issues can stem from incompatible settings.
