I just got my iPhone 16 a week ago and restored it from my old phone's backup. Right from the start, I noticed the phone heating up during regular tasks like texting and scrolling through social media. Initially, I thought it was normal for a new device. After a couple of days, I reset it to start fresh without the backup. For a few days, I also avoided installing Apple Intelligence to see if that was the cause of the heating. While it warmed up less after that, I still experienced fast battery drain. Before using the AI features, I was losing about 7-10% battery overnight, and now I only get about 4.5 hours of screen time on a full charge. I'm careful to keep it charged to 80%, but it doesn't seem to last the day. Is this typical behavior for a new iPhone, or should I take it back to the store?

There's no harm in charging it to 100%! If your phone isn't indicating a battery issue, it should be okay. Just monitor how much battery you actually use daily before limiting your charge.
I’ve seen anecdotal stories where people using the 80% charge limit on their iPhone 15 Pro Max didn’t have significant battery issues compared to those who charged to 100%. If your battery health is showing as normal and at 100% capacity, that’s a good sign. I wouldn’t stress too much yet.
Thanks for the article! But why should I trust the battery condition metrics?
I appreciate the tip! I want to get a clearer picture of my daily battery consumption first before I decide.
