Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a new PC from scratch and I've got a setup in mind. I'd love your opinions on two things: Will this setup be future-proof for about five years? And do you think I'll be able to comfortably game at 4K resolution with this? Here's what I'm planning:
- CPU: 9950x3d
- GPU: Asus Prime Geforce 5080 OC
- RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 6000 MHz 32GB
- MOBO: Asus Strix B850-F
- Power Supply: Phanteks AMP GH 1000W 80+ Platinum
- CPU Cooling: Cooler Master ML360L
- Case: Asus TUF GT302
Any other tips or notes on my build would also be greatly appreciated!

If gaming is your main focus, I'd suggest swapping for the 9800x3d and maybe reducing your cooling costs with a simpler CPU cooler. If that means you can afford a 5090, go for it! It’ll definitely shine if you have a high refresh rate display. Just keep in mind that nothing will really future-proof you for five years—it often makes sense to update your rig every couple of years for the latest tech.
Check out this video [link](https://youtu.be/xnOZXsfUCM8?feature=shared) for more insights! The 9950x3d will perform well mainly if you're heavily upscaling. Consider swapping for a less pricey CPU and targeting a 5090 GPU instead. At 4K, the graphics card will likely be your bottleneck—DLSS performance might help a bit with that.
Your build is quite powerful, but even top-notch components can struggle at 4K. You might want to consider if you're overspending a bit - there are ways to cut costs on some components without sacrificing performance!
Honestly, you're at the peak with this setup. The only noticeable upgrade would be jumping to a 5090 GPU. If you switch out the CPU for a 9800x3d, that extra cash could get you that GPU, which is a beast for 4K gaming! The 9950x3d isn't really that much better for gaming compared to the 9800x3d, even with all those extra cores.

Yeah, the thought of spending $2k on just a GPU is pretty wild! But the 5090 does sound amazing. It's just crazy to think how fast prices get for top-tier stuff!
