I'm working on a PC build with a budget of £1700, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm getting the best components for my money. Here's the current spec: I'm using a CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D for £410.99, a CPU Cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 for £36.99, a Motherboard: MSI B850 Gaming Plus Wifi6 ATX AM5 for £129.97, RAM: Klevv Fit V 32Gb DDR5 6000 for £299.99, Storage: Crucial T500 2TB SSD for £209.98, GPU: Zotec Gaming Solid OC RTC 5070 12Gb for £529.99, and a PSU: Cooler Master MWE Gold 750 watt for £63.73. The total comes to £1681.83. I also already have a case. Any recommendations or concerns about my build? I plan to use this setup primarily for 1080p gaming.

What are you primarily using it for? If it's just 1080p gaming, you might not need such a powerful CPU. A 9600x or similar would work and let you put that saved cash into a better monitor, which you won't regret. Monitors are getting cheaper and are more important for your gaming experience anyway.

Your build is slightly over budget but could benefit from a more balanced CPU and GPU combo. I suggest this setup which totals £1709.41:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D for £374.00.
- GPU: PowerColor Reaper Radeon RX 9070 XT for £589.99.
- Other components remain similar. This combo will provide great performance, especially for gaming at higher resolutions.

You might even stay within budget with a 7800X3D, which should still pair well with the 9070XT.

While a solid suggestion, just be cautious. The motherboard you suggested has limited capabilities that might not benefit future upgrades.

Just a heads-up about your RAM: 6000 speed is good, but what's the CL? Also, swapping the 9850 for a 9800 could save you a good chunk of change without sacrificing too much power. Aim for the 5070 Ti for a better balance—it's a bit pricier but worth it for performance.

Really? You think the upgrade will actually be beneficial given the price jump?

Yeah! The performance difference can be significant, but I'd definitely weigh the costs compared to what you’re gaining.

Your build is generally alright, but you really don’t need that powerhouse of a CPU for 1080p gaming. You could save some bucks on the CPU and upgrade your monitor instead. It's pretty wild to spend so much on hardware for a lower resolution—considering discuss the need for high graphical quality is important too.

I think you should consider swapping your CPU since the 9850X3D might be overkill for your 5070 GPU. If you can, upgrade to the 7800X3D and invest in a better GPU if possible, like the 9070 XT, which would elevate your gaming experience to 1440p. At higher resolutions, the GPU takes on more load, so a less powerful CPU would work fine.
