I recently bought a UPS from Amazon Basics, and when I tried to boot up a game like Fortnite, it shut everything off. It's rated at 400VA, and I'm wondering if that's just too weak for my setup. I don't know much about UPS units, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on what I'm doing wrong. It worked fine with a regular surge protector. Here are my specs: Ryzen 5 9600x, Asus Prime 9070 XT, and a be quiet! 850W gold-rated power supply. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Before buying anything new, try plugging your setup directly into the wall outlet without the UPS. It’s a simple test to see if the UPS is the problem; if it works fine, then you know the UPS is just not strong enough.
Seems like 400VA is pretty small for a gaming setup. I suggest checking the actual power ratings of your hardware, then look for a UPS that has a higher output. Going for at least a 1000VA unit would be much safer.
Your UPS only has a maximum output of 255W, which is pretty low. That likely means it can't handle the load from your system when gaming, especially if your GPU is demanding more power. You'd probably need something in the range of 1000-1500VA to be safe, especially under high load situations like gaming. Just check how much your system draws under full load and make sure the UPS can accommodate that.

Yeah, definitely. Running a powerful setup on a low-VA UPS isn't gonna cut it. A bigger one will definitely help.
