I'm considering buying a 2080 Ti from a friend for just $100, and I'm curious if it can still handle 1080p gaming well into 2025. If it doesn't hold up, I'm looking at upgrading to a 9060 XT with 16GB of memory for around $360 instead. My current card is a 1660 Super, and while I plan to eventually upgrade to a newer GPU that supports frame generation, I want to see if the 2080 Ti is a decent temporary upgrade.

I've had a 2080 Ti since launch and it still runs my games smoothly at 1440p. Sure, power consumption is higher, and it might not last forever, but for $100, it's hard to pass up. Games like FIFA run over 120 FPS at max settings for me, so I think it's a safe bet.
Honestly, I still use a 1080 and it handles most games decently well by just tweaking the settings. A 2080 Ti for $100 is an amazing deal! You’ll definitely notice a performance improvement, even if I can’t give exact numbers.
The 2080 Ti is still a very capable card for 1080p and even 1440p gaming at medium settings. As long as your power supply can handle it, you should be fine!
$100 for a 2080 Ti is a steal! With 11GB of VRAM and support for DLSS, it definitely offers better performance than a RX 6600 XT. I think you’d have a pretty solid upgrade there for 1080p gaming.
Exactly! The 6600 XT is comparable to the 5700 XT, which is around the 2070 Super level. You’d be getting more power and VRAM with the 2080 Ti.

Just upgraded to an RX 6700 XT after years with older cards. It was a great move and the old GPUs were pretty solid while they lasted!
