Is the 5800X3D Still a Solid Choice for Gaming in 2023?

I'm currently using a 5600X, but I'm feeling the need for an upgrade as it just isn't cutting it for my gaming needs anymore. I'm planning to stick with the AM4 platform until AM6 releases. I'm considering the 5800X3D as a powerful option, which I plan to pair with a 7900 GRE. Do you think this setup will hold up well until at least 2027, or should I be looking for something more future-proof?

Yeah, the 5800X3D is still a great choice, but availability might be a challenge since it's been out of production. I did snag a 5700X3D recently, and it pairs beautifully with a 5070Ti. Just be aware that prices can get steep as supplies are limited.

I didn't realize they were out of production. That's a bummer!

I also just got a new GPU! How's your performance with the 5070Ti?

The 5800X3D still reigns supreme on the AM4 platform. I'm running it with a 4080 Super, and performance at 1440p or even 4K is fantastic. Just make sure to get it at a decent price; otherwise, consider going for the 5700X3D as it’s also a solid option, even if a bit slower.

Honestly, I regret my AM5 upgrade. I should have just gone with the 5800X3D instead of dealing with all the costs of a new motherboard and RAM. But with current prices for second-hand 7800X3Ds being higher than retail, maybe my upgrade wasn't too bad after all.

I upgraded from a 5600X to a 9800X3D and it was worth every penny!

The market is wild right now! Prices are just insane.

Absolutely! The 5800X3D is still a powerhouse. I have one myself and I'm not planning to transition to AM5 anytime soon. It's been performing excellently with my current setup, and I believe it will continue to do so for a while. You're likely to enjoy great performance with it!

Totally agree! The upgrade from a 5600X to a 5800X3D will be significant.

Same here! I'm also sticking with AM4 and couldn't be happier with it.

The 5800X3D is indeed a strong performer, but prices have shot up given its discontinued status. If you can find it for under $200, then go for it. Otherwise, I suggest considering moving to AM5. The value proposition is better now for the newer generation.

I was eyeing one at $270. Not sure it’s worth it at that price, though.

Totally agree – better options might be out there for the money.
