I'm looking to combine gaming, recording, and video editing in my setup. I'm considering the 9900X since it has more cores, which should help with video editing. Plus, it's over $100 cheaper than the 9800X3D. However, I'm curious if it's any good for gaming, especially compared to that other option.

For 1440p gaming, the 9900X should do really well, especially if you crank up the graphics settings. Your GPU will play a big role too and most likely it won’t bottleneck your performance.

Honestly, the 9900X is perfectly fine for gaming. While it might not be the absolute best choice for gamers focused only on gaming, it excels in your use case with video editing in the mix. It's a solid performer overall.

If gaming is your main priority, sure, there are better CPUs out there, but the 9900X offers a nice balance of price and performance, particularly when you also want to do some serious work tasks like video editing.

I think the 9900X is a great fit if you need a balance between gaming and productivity. It's not going to get the most FPS per dollar compared to something like the 9800X3D, but if you're using those extra cores for editing, it makes a lot of sense.

I've got a 9900X, and I think it’s great! It might lose about 10-15% in certain games compared to the 9800X3D, but depending on your GPU, that difference could be negligible—especially for multitasking with video work.
