I'm trying to build my younger brother his first gaming rig. I'm not going all out with high-end specs since he's on the spectrum and doesn't need something super powerful, so I'm aiming for a solid starter rig. Here are the specs of the setup I'm considering for him:
**PC:** HP Pavilion Gaming TG01-2003W (customized)
**CPU:** AMD Ryzen 3 5300G
**RAM:** 16GB DDR4-3200
**Storage:** 512GB NVMe Gen 3
**OS:** Windows 10 Home
**GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Low-Profile
**Monitor:** HP Gaming Monitor
**Keyboard:** HP Pavilion 500
**Mouse:** HP Pavilion 300
**Speakers:** Logitech Z313

For reference, here's my gaming rig:
**PC:** Custom Made
**CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
**RAM:** 32GB DDR4-3200
**Storage:** 1TB NVMe Gen 3
**OS:** Windows 10 Pro
**GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
**Monitor:** ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQM5B
**Keyboard:** Razer BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma
**Mouse:** Razer Basilisk V3
**Speakers:** Razer Leviathan V2 X

I'm just looking for feedback on whether this setup is good for a beginner, especially considering it's for my brother who has autism and doesn't require extreme performance.

Why stick with Windows 10? It's going to age out with security updates pretty soon. If you can, maybe looking into Windows 11 would be wise for the long-term safety of his machine.

If you're near a Micro Center, definitely check out their AM4 bundles; they usually have killer deals. Overall, your brother's rig should be more than enough for casual gaming, especially with that GPU!

Honestly, that starter rig setup looks decent for the price! I started with something similar back in the day and upgraded the RAM first. It handled everyday games just fine without issues, so I think it's a good choice for someone just getting into gaming.

That setup will do just fine! Just make sure the games he plays are optimized for what he has. Honestly, with the RTX 2060, he’ll still be able to play most things comfortably.

You might want to consider Windows 11 for the Ryzen scheduling improvements. It's easy to debloat it, and once you do, it's actually a great OS. Plus, keeping the OS updated is crucial for security—with Windows 10 reaching its end soon that's something to think about!
