I'm considering upgrading my CPU from a Ryzen 3600X to a 5600X, especially since I've just picked up a 9060 XT 16GB. I mostly play esports, but I also want to play some AAA titles at 1440p, like Hogwart's Legacy and Witcher 4. I'm not looking to switch to AM5 right now, and finding reasonably priced 5700X3D or 5800X3D models in Canada is tricky. Will I notice a significant performance boost with this upgrade?

You might not notice a huge difference. If you're looking for the best value on AM4, I've seen the 5800X for around $240, which could be a solid choice.
I faced a similar dilemma and ended up upgrading to the 7800X3D for about $800 before tax, instead of just upgrading to the 5700X3D. The benchmarks for the 5600X are out there on YouTube, so check those out. I mainly play esports too, and I was starting to struggle with frame rates on my 3600X, so it was worth it for me!
Here's a real answer: upgrading to the 5600X will give you a noticeable performance boost. If you can snag it at a great price, why not go for it? Sure, AM5 would be better, but if you're on a budget and need gains now, it's a solid pick.
You might want to wait for a decent AM4 X3D or think about a full AM5 build later on. Got to consider your options.
The improvements are likely to be minimal between those two CPUs in most scenarios. I've been using a 5600X with a 6750XT at 1440p for a couple of years. I considered the 5700X3D but with prices rising after Christmas, I'm going to wait for AM5 options instead. However, if performance is key, the 5700X (not 3D) is great right now and often available for a minimal price increase compared to the 5600X—two extra cores might be worth it!
