Is Upgrading to an i9-14900K Worth It for My PC?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC components and need some advice. Right now, I have an RTX 4070 Ti Super, an i7 9700K processor, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X motherboard. I've noticed that my CPU often seems to be the bottleneck in my performance. However, my motherboard doesn't support upgrades beyond what I currently have. I'm considering switching to an i9-14900K and found a suitable motherboard, the MSI PRO B760-P. Before I proceed, I want to ensure I'm making a good decision and not overlooking any important details. Also, will I need to reinstall Windows after changing the motherboard?

The i9-14900K might be overkill just for gaming, especially with your RTX 4070 Ti. If you're mostly gaming, you could get away with a 14600K instead. That said, if you're aiming for longevity and want to see a solid performance boost, the i9 could be a good choice. Also, just a heads up, the MSI motherboard doesn't come with Wi-Fi, so keep that in mind!

If you're struggling with CPU utilization in games, that makes sense to go for a stronger CPU. The i7 you have is definitely holding you back in VR. The 14700K might be a sweet spot too for performance while saving some cash.
