Left Mouse Button Not Working on Mint with Sony Vaio Laptop

I'm facing an issue with my old Sony Vaio laptop running Mint 21.3 XFCE. The right mouse button and trackpad working perfectly fine, but the left-click just doesn't respond at all. Tapping the trackpad also doesn't do anything. Interestingly, when I boot into Windows, all buttons function normally, which suggests it's not a hardware issue. I've tried relaunching Mint, but that didn't help. I also noticed that pressing hard on the left edge of the button sometimes gets it to work, but I'm puzzled as to why it only happens in Mint. Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated!

Hey, always good to provide your distro and some specs when asking for help! Have you thought about trying a different WM as a temporary solution? It could help narrow down the problem.

This seems like a problem related to XFCE. Have you tested other window managers? It might give you a clearer idea if it's an XFCE issue. Also, I encountered something similar with the synaptics module ages ago. You could try blacklisting or unloading it—might be worth a shot since the issue is quite peculiar!
