I have a Lenovo Ideapad S340-15API, and I've been facing a peculiar charging issue since I got it. When the laptop is on and I connect the charger, it just won't take any power. The only way to get it to charge is to turn it off for about 10 to 15 minutes before plugging in the charger. There's another strange scenario: if I'm using the laptop while it's charging and then I unplug it, I sometimes can't get it to charge again after turning it off. In that case, I have to turn it on (still on battery), leave it running for a few minutes, turn it off again, wait a little longer, and then it finally starts charging. I've looked everywhere for a solution and haven't had any luck. Also, I should note that this is a used laptop, so I'm unsure if that factors into the issue.

It sounds like quite a headache! Since you bought it used, the warranty isn't an option. You might want to consider that the battery could be aging. Do you have Lenovo Vantage installed? If so, check your battery health; that could give you some insights. There's a good video that walks through how to do it – it might help!

I checked and it says "pretty good," but there is a bit of wear on it. I researched and think I might be dealing with an intermittent EC/firmware power-state bug. I just updated the BIOS and I'm running tests to see if that solves the issue.
