I'm considering alternatives now that OpsGenie is shutting down, but I'm not keen on moving my entire workflow and ticketing system to Atlassian products, despite many companies likely already being on Atlassian contracts. Here's what I need in a new solution:
- Integrations with ASPM/DSPM (like CrowdStrike/Groundcover), because writing Lambda functions to convert alerts isn't happening.
- Affordable phone call charges are crucial.
- A Slack integration would be a huge bonus.
- Good team modeling is necessary.
- Support for on-call schedules and overrides is essential, especially if it can integrate with an HR management system to save time.
- I'm not too concerned about the UI; I hope I won't need to log in more than a few times a month.
- Of course, better pricing is a major consideration.
Both PagerDuty and Rootly claim they can handle migration easily for us. What are your thoughts on these options?

I work at incident.io, and we have a detailed comparison of our service and Rootly. While we provide more flexibility and user-friendly setups, I suggest you check out both to find the best fit for your needs!
I wouldn’t go near Jira Service Management. We switched to it because it was part of our existing contract, but it’s been a massive headache. Trust me, don't even consider it a viable option!
I feel you on that. What specific issues did you have with it?
I actually like Jira Service Management! It just takes a little getting used to.
Definitely stay clear of PagerDuty! I recommend checking out incident.io, Rootly, or Datadog IR if you’re already using Datadog. PagerDuty gets super pricey once your team sizes grow.
What went wrong for you with PagerDuty? I just started using it but I'm not fully settled in.
I just switched to Rootly at my company and I have to say, it’s been awesome! The Slack integration for incident channels is slick, and overall, it's been my favorite tool compared to PagerDuty and OpsGenie.
Does Rootly have a heartbeat feature for monitoring?
DataDog actually does support incident management and even does it better than PagerDuty if you’re looking for something efficient. They have all the features you’d expect, like on-duty schedules and escalation policies.
Good to know! I initially thought it was mostly just for monitoring stuff.
Thanks for the insight! I’ll definitely check that out.
