Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my older PC that I originally built for a friend a couple of years ago for about $650 (not including Windows, keyboard, mouse, or monitor). Here are the current specs:
- Gigabyte H610M S2H V2 DDR4 motherboard
- Intel i3-12100F (12th gen)
- Gigabyte Radeon RX 6600 Eagle 8GB
- 16 GB DDR4 RAM
- 1TB Samsung SSD
- Seasonic 500W power supply
- Fractal Design Focus G Mystic ATX mid tower
This setup was decent for light gaming, but now I need a machine that's solid for coding. I'm often running tons of Chrome tabs, VSCode, Docker, Slack, Discord, and other memory-heavy apps. What would you recommend updating for 2025, while keeping the costs as low as possible?

You might want to look at upgrading your CPU, GPU, and RAM to handle all those apps. A faster CPU can really help with multiple tasks. Consider something like the i5-12400 or an i7 if you want more power.
Definitely avoid cheap CPUs. Check out the i7-12700K or i9-12900K if you want to keep your current motherboard. They’ll provide a massive boost without having to completely overhaul your setup.
It's important to clarify what you mean by low price. Are you aiming for around the $650 mark again, or are you flexible?
I'm targeting around $650, but I can stretch it a bit if needed.
Could you be a little more specific on which parts to get?
