Looking for Budget PC Build Ideas Under $500

I'm trying to help my brother build a gaming PC and I have a budget of $500. It's my first time building, so I'm a bit nervous about picking the right parts. I've made a list on PCPartPicker and would love some feedback. Please be kind! Also, I forgot to mention that this is the absolute minimum I can spend. Any suggestions for changes or advice would be appreciated!

It really depends on what your brother plans to do with the PC. If it’s just for homework and some casual gaming like Roblox or Fortnite, then a lower-end build might suffice. You could consider skipping the dedicated GPU for now and use something like the Ryzen 5600G until he’s ready to upgrade.

If you want to build something yourself, consider checking out used parts. I've seen fully functional PCs going for around $400, and you could flip some components to get a solid GPU. Just be careful with compatibility if you go that route!

Get a used RX 6600 for about $150 if you can find one. It’s way better than the RX 570 you were looking at. Also, don't bother with a third-party cooler; the stock one will do just fine.

The GPU on your list is outdated. If your brother is really looking to game, you might be better off getting a PS5 or an Xbox Series X for around the same price.

Honestly, your best bet might be to look for a used PC instead of building from scratch. At this price point, a new build will likely just be outdated and underwhelming right from the start.
