I'm planning to switch from a laptop to a PC for a better gaming experience and the flexibility to upgrade in the future. I want to play modern games competently and already have 2 SSDs and 32GB of DDR5 RAM, so those are covered. I'm seeking advice on how to enhance my build without significantly increasing the cost or any potential issues I should be aware of. My tech knowledge is decent but I know I have some blind spots, so any help would be appreciated! Here's what I'm considering:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X ($315)
- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Aqua Elite V3 66.17 CFM Liquid Cooler ($60)
- Motherboard: MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 ($140)
- Graphics card: MSI SHADOW 2X OC GeForce RTX 5050 ($200)
- Case: Montech XR ATX Mid Tower Case ($70)
- Power supply: Cooler Master MWE GOLD 750 V2 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ($70)

It looks like you're on the right track, but if this build is mainly for gaming, I’d recommend cutting back a bit on the CPU and investing more in a better GPU. The RTX 5050 isn’t the strongest option available.

Thanks for the advice! What GPU would you suggest instead? I checked the benchmarks for the 5050 and it seemed to meet the minimum and recommended specs for most games, which is why I was leaning towards it.
