I've been dealing with a frustrating issue where my laptop has been stuck on a frozen screen for several hours. I've already tried pressing and holding the power button, as well as doing a hard reset, but nothing has worked so far. I'm considering just letting the battery die, but I'm not sure if that's the right approach. Can anyone suggest what I should do next?

Make sure you’re really pressing down on that power button firmly and for long enough. If it still won’t shut down, it's better to unplug the battery before it gets damaged.
Check if there's a button underneath the laptop that disconnects the battery. You can often use a pen or paperclip to push it and remove the power.
You might not have held the power button down long enough! It usually takes a solid 4 seconds to force it to shut down. If that doesn’t work, letting the battery drain or manually disconnecting it could be your best bet.
One option is to remove the bottom cover of your laptop and disconnect the battery cable. After that, you can reseat it to see if that helps reset things.
Yeah, I agree. In my experience, the power management controller rarely causes issues like this, so it's usually just a matter of holding that power button for the full duration.
