Hey everyone! I just got a new MSI GF63 Thin laptop, and I'm having a pretty frustrating issue. It has both Intel UHD graphics and NVIDIA drivers installed, but it seems like the display settings are defaulting to the Intel graphics for both my laptop screen and HDMI port. This is causing a really poor frame rate in games. I've tried everything I can think of—playing with settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel, checking BIOS (couldn't find anything), disabling the Intel graphics and restarting, as well as uninstalling and reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers. I also messed with the global graphics settings in Windows. I'm really stumped! The NVIDIA Control Panel even shows that my HDMI and USB-C ports are linked to Intel graphics, even though I have a dedicated GPU. My specs are a 12th Gen i7 12650H, 16GB DDR4, and RTX 4050. Any advice would be super appreciated!

It sounds like you need to set your GPU preference directly in the NVIDIA Control Panel or the advanced graphics options of Windows. You can set it to always use the high-performance NVIDIA chip for specific apps instead of relying on the automatic selection—which can sometimes pick the Intel GPU instead.
Have you checked if your power settings are set to performance mode? Sometimes, it can affect how your GPU is utilized. Also, make sure you’ve updated your NVIDIA drivers to the latest version. That might help the situation!
I've set the power settings to performance and even tried reinstalling the drivers, but I'm still having the same problem. It's really frustrating!
Yeah, disabling Intel graphics might not go well either. You might end up with Microsoft basic drivers instead.
I've tried all that, and now it seems like I can only get the dedicated GPU to display through the USB-C port, but even then, I'm limited to a 30Hz refresh rate!
