My Laptop Went Black – Is It a Virus?

I was downloading something when my laptop screen suddenly went black, and the fans started running at full speed. The screen is now a very faint black, and my keyboard lights are flickering. The power button doesn't seem to do anything. Could this be a virus, and is there any way to fix this? I can't upload a video since I'm using my mobile, but I really need some advice!

Thanks for the help! I managed to power it down and reboot it without having to press the power button again. I'm currently running a virus scan to check for any issues.

You should force shutdown your laptop. Hold the power button for 10 seconds or more until it turns off completely. If you're comfortable, you might want to unplug the battery, wait a minute, and then put everything back together before turning it on again. Just be cautious when opening it up!

It sounds like it could be a malware issue, but it's not very likely unless something physically damaged your laptop, like overheating. Try holding down the power button for about a minute. Sometimes modern computers can go into a hybrid sleep mode, and a long press might help reset it.
