My New PC Build Won’t Power On – Help!

I recently completed my first PC build, which includes a 650W XPG Core Reactor II Modular PSU, an Asrock b650 PG Lightning Wifi motherboard, a Ryzen 5 9600x CPU, an RTX 5070 GPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM (two 16GB sticks), and two 1TB M.2 SSDs. I was experimenting with dual-booting Windows 11 and Linux Mint. To reset everything, I went into the BIOS to clear the SSDs, which took about 20 minutes for the first one. I left to grab something for less than 10 minutes and when I returned, my computer was completely off. Initially, it had powered on fine, with all lights functioning. I tried turning it back on but nothing happened, so I unplugged everything, waited, and plugged it back in, to no avail. I then learned about clearing the CMOS by using a screwdriver on the 'CLR CMOS' pins, but after waiting a bit again and replugging everything, the system still wouldn't power on. I'm really worried I might have bricked my build. Does anyone have suggestions for troubleshooting?

First off, don’t panic! Check if there are any lights on the motherboard or connected peripherals like the mouse or keyboard. If you see nothing at all, it could be a power issue with the PSU or a bad connection. Make sure all connections are secure, especially the 24-pin and 8-pin CPU cables. It might help to try a different power outlet or power strip too.

It sounds like you did everything right with the CMOS reset, but if it’s still not responding, make sure your power supply is functioning properly. Is it plugged in tightly? If you have another PSU or can borrow one, that could help rule out the PSU as the problem. Also consider breadboarding the components outside the case to see if it powers on there.
