My PC is Freezing and Crashing After 4 Years—Help!

Hey everyone! I've had my PC for about 4 years now, and it's been running smoothly until recently. It started with my power supply unit making loud noises, and after some investigation, I found that the fan speed controller was faulty, so I replaced it with a new Thermaltake 750W PSU. Things seemed fine for a bit, but then my PC started freezing and showing the blue screen of death. After a few boots, it would eventually allow me to use it, and then there was a Windows update that caused it to freeze at the lock screen. I decided to do a clean install of Windows, thinking that might help, but now it keeps freezing and crashing during the update process. I'm starting to think this could be a hardware issue. Here's my setup:
- Ryzen 5 5500
- 16GB 3200MHz RAM
- Asus A520M Plus WiFi motherboard
- Zotac GTX 3060 12GB graphics card
- Patriot 512GB SSD
- Thermaltake 750W 80+ Gold
- NZXT H5 Flow case
If anyone has any insights into what might be causing all these problems, I would really appreciate any help!

It sounds like your PC might be crashing due to unstable RAM or a failing SSD. A good first step would be to run Memtest86 from a USB drive to check for RAM issues. If the tests pass, it’s possible that your SSD is on its way out.

Thanks for the tip! I've heard Ryzen 5 CPUs can start failing around the 5-year mark, but since I just got new RAM a few weeks ago, I'm leaning towards the SSD being the problem.

Don't forget that hard drives have a limited lifespan in terms of reads and writes. If you've been moving a lot of files around or installing/uninstalling software, that could contribute to failure. If there’s any important data on your SSD, consider backing it up soon in case it’s close to dying.

That makes sense, I'll definitely look into migrating my important files to a new drive.

Have you checked if your RAM or SSD is failing? Also, make sure your motherboard's BIOS is updated because it can sometimes affect stability if it's not current.

I did update the BIOS, and like I mentioned, my RAM is new. But since the BIOS update, the system has been acting a bit weird.
