Hey everyone,
Last night, I let my PC update and shut down while I was asleep by selecting the "update and power off" option. Now, when I try to power it on, nothing happens at all. I can't access the right screwdriver to check the hardware until tomorrow, so I'm looking for some ideas in the meantime.
Here are my specs:
- Motherboard: Aorus B550M AX V2
- 850W Power Supply (Toughpower GT)
- CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
- GPUs: RTX 5060 & RTX 3060
- 32 GB RAM
- Storage: 120GB SATA SSD (for the system), 1TB SATA HDD, 1TB & 2TB PCIe SSDs
The motherboard, power supply, and RTX 5060 are basically new and had been running fine up until now.
I suspect this is a software issue stemming from the Windows update. Any thoughts or suggestions for troubleshooting?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the typical MS update issues. Sometimes these updates can throw things off. Just be glad it’s not a laptop with an integrated battery—the hassle is way worse there!
It’s unlikely the update completely killed your power button function. You might be dealing with your PC stuck in sleep mode. Try unplugging the power cable, holding down the power button for about 10 seconds, and then plugging it back in to see if that helps.

Absolutely! I prefer working on desktops for this reason. Have you tried the suggested power reset?
