I was playing Minecraft on my old prebuilt PC when suddenly it just turned off. At first, I thought my feet might have messed with the cables, but I hadn't moved. I checked the power supply connector and plugged it in more securely. When I tried rebooting, it powered on for just 2 seconds before shutting off completely. The second attempt didn't even turn it on, and I started smelling something burning, which was definitely coming from the power supply unit (PSU). Now I'm wondering if I should replace it or try rebooting again after three days. What do you think I should do? Also, everyone seems to agree on replacing it, but I'm considering a Deepcool PF500X since I'm really tight on money—should I save more or go for that?

Definitely don’t power it on again if the PSU is obviously faulty! It's just not worth the risk. You could end up damaging other components in your PC or even starting a fire.
Replacing it is the only option here. You don't want to take a chance with something that’s clearly broken. The Deepcool PF500X should work fine if it's in your budget, just don't wait too long to make the switch!
You’d be crazy to try to boot it when the power supply is burning! Just replace it first; that’s the safest route. A faulty PSU can lead to bigger issues.
Totally agree, just replace it! Risking rebooting could cause more damage in the long run, and you don’t want that. Safety comes first!
Don’t take the risk of starting a fire, my friend. Replace the PSU now. You can figure out the budget later, but safety is most important!
