Need Advice on Learning Python – Am I on the Right Track?

I've just started learning Python and could use some guidance on my approach. I'm following a course on a YouTube channel called Programming with Mosh, and I'd like to know what others think about this channel and whether it's a good choice. I've heard it's recommended a lot, but I want a few more opinions. I'm currently about 20 minutes into the course, and I feel I might be a bit slow. So far, I've been practicing what I've learned and using a cheat sheet to help me out. Before I dive deeper, I'd like suggestions on how to learn more effectively without getting overwhelmed. I thought about keeping notes, but I'm not sure if it's necessary with the cheat sheet on hand.

It takes time to master programming, and it's true what they say about 10,000 hours of practice. Since you're just starting, focus on digesting the material slowly. I recommend watching short segments of videos (20-30 mins), taking it in without getting too caught up in notes. Then, review what you learned later and practice solving problems. Weak grasping happens often, and repetitive viewing helps solidify knowledge!

I actually replayed the first 20 minutes a couple of times for better understanding, so I’m on the right track there!

It’s important to know why you’re learning Python. Are you building something specific or just picking it up? Also, check out resources on learning styles, like the one from Libby. Finding out how you learn best can really help you get the most out of this course!

Hey, I suggest giving it more than 20 minutes. Spend a few hours trying to absorb the material before asking for more advice. You'll have a clearer picture of your progress and what you need to focus on after that!

Yeah, exactly! The initial stages are often the hardest, and you'll find your rhythm after a bit of practice.

I think jumping straight into a course might not be the best if you're completely new. Consider taking CS50x – it’s a free university course that provides a solid foundation in programming principles before jumping into Python. It could really help you get the right mindset.

That sounds like a good plan! I'll look into it.
