Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to building PCs, and I need some help. Here's my setup:
- Red Devil AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT Ultimate 16GB (a friend gave it to me, tested and functional at Microcenter)
- ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI Motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 7 Series CPU
- Micron Crucial DDR5 RAM with overclocking
- 990 Pro PCIe Samsung SSD
- Leadex III 1000 Gold Series Power Supply
- Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB Cooler
- Montech XR Mid Tower Case
Everything is plugged in and powering up, but I'm not getting any signal to my keyboard, mouse, or monitor. The CPU DRAM orange error light is on the motherboard. I've tried a few troubleshooting steps, but nothing seems to work. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Can you clarify what Ryzen CPU you have? If it’s from the 9000 series, you might need a BIOS update for the motherboard. But since you got it from Microcenter, it should usually be good to go. Still, with that DRAM error light, try swapping each RAM stick in different slots and see if it helps. If nothing works, reseat the CPU—sometimes that fixes connection issues.
It might help to boot the system using just one stick of RAM at a time. Make sure you’re putting them in the right slots too; the motherboard manual should have that info. Give it a shot and see if that changes anything.
I have the 9800X 3D CPU, but I’m a bit lost on the BIOS update. How does that even work?
