I'm preparing for the Online Assessment for the Solutions Architect role at AWS and could use some advice. The assessment consists of several parts: a 10-minute workstyles section where I answer questions about my work approach, a 15-minute simulation dealing with customer situations that AWS employees might face, and a 20-minute technical assessment covering one of the following areas: Modern Data Platform, Cloud Compute, Application Development, or Migration. I'm curious if there are any online resources or courses that folks have found helpful before. Are there specific questions I should focus on, or is it worth it to sign up for Exponent and go through their courses?

I went into my assessment without any cloud experience and managed to do fine thanks to solid IT fundamentals and reasoning skills. Some really smart people struggle due to nerves, so keep that in mind. For the Modern Data Architecture, AWS blogs can be super helpful. If you're not already familiar with the basics, cramming won't do much good. Also, using tools like ChatGPT to get summaries on concepts you don't know can be beneficial.
I think knowing about the Database Migration Tool is a must. They might appreciate some familiarity with that.
If you can't jump into the assessment with a strong understanding of infrastructure, you might not be ready for the interview yet. Make sure you have a grip on the core concepts.
The work styles section is pretty much a personality test. Brush up on the Leadership Principles; avoid saying things like you need your manager's permission to take risks. The simulation will likely cover basic customer interactions, so be prepared for that. For the technical part, it's really about knowing your stuff; there's not much time to cram.
