Newly Built PC Won’t Power On—What Should I Check?

We just finished assembling a PC, but it shows no signs of powering on. The parts are a Foifkin M1 case, MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus motherboard, MAG A650BN power supply, RTX 5060 Ti, and Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The 24-pin motherboard cable, CPU power cable, and GPU power cable are connected. We also reseated the RAM and reconnected the front-panel headers, but the system still won't start. This is our first build, so we're looking for a quick, methodical way to diagnose whether we missed a connection or have a faulty component.

The exact parts matter for troubleshooting, so listing the full build was a good first step. Since you’ve already checked the main power cables, RAM, and front-panel connectors, continue with basic diagnostics one step at a time. Confirm the PSU is switched on if it has a rear switch, verify the wall outlet and power cable, and make sure the case power-switch connector is on the correct motherboard pins. Photos of the motherboard connections would also make it much easier to spot a misplaced cable.

We posted quickly because we had already checked several connections, but this is our first build and we may still have missed something. We’ll go through the diagnostic steps more carefully.

The power-supply voltage switch is worth checking on models that include one, although this particular unit may not have a manual selector. If there’s no switch, focus on the outlet, PSU rocker switch, motherboard 24-pin and CPU power connections, and the front-panel power-switch header. If the board has diagnostic LEDs, check whether any light up when the PSU is connected.

We checked for a voltage selector and this PSU doesn’t have one. We’ll verify the other power and header connections again.
