Random Power Shutdowns While Gaming After Upgrading PC

My friend recently upgraded his system from a Ryzen 5 7600 with a 3060 Ti to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D paired with a 9070 XT in mid-February. Since making this change, he's been experiencing random shutdowns while gaming, without any blue screens or specific error messages—just a complete power-off. Prior to the upgrade, everything was running smoothly.

The only recurring error in the event viewer is 'Unable to load Pluton-Windows firmware. StatusCode: STATUS_SUCCESS, Reason: Failed to apply firmware.' We initially thought this could be linked to TPM, so we disabled it, but that hasn't resolved the issue.

Here's his setup: 7800X3D, Asus Tuf Gaming B650M-E, RX 9070 XT, and a Silverstone DA850R-GMA. To troubleshoot, he plans to test with his old CPU to determine if the new 7800X3D might be faulty.

Interestingly, I have a nearly identical PC (same PSU, CPU, and GPU) and I'm not experiencing these shutdowns.

So far, we've tried a range of solutions, including: stock RAM speeds, disabling TPM, updating BIOS, chipset and drivers, disabling VBS, resetting BIOS to defaults, checking drive and RAM health, and lowering power usage for the CPU and GPU to rule out a PSU issue.

What we haven't tried yet is reinstalling Windows (which is a last resort) or swapping the CPU with one we know works. I'll keep the thread updated with our findings!

Have you checked for crash dump files? Those can really help analyze what's causing the shutdowns. If you can get back into Windows, look for them in C:WindowsMinidump. You can zip them and upload to a file sharing site, which might help figure out the issue more effectively.
