Recommendations for Managing Multiple Domain Names

I'm looking for recommendations on services to manage and monitor a substantial number of domain names for a client. They've got about 150 domains, many of which aren't currently in use, but a few are linked to email services. I need a solution that can effectively monitor these domains, take regular backups of DNS records, and alert us to any changes. We currently use GANDI, which works well for delegating permissions to clients for their records, but it lacks some functionality we're after. If there's a good third-party tool available, I'd be open to trying that too!

For managing a large portfolio of both active and inactive domains, we use BrandShelter. It’s ideal for trademark protection and typosquatting. We handle hundreds of domains effectively. I think you’ll find it really useful!

Thank you! I’ll look into BrandShelter. Can you give a rough idea of their pricing? I couldn't find any info on their website.

We also prioritize branding with our domains; the technical side comes after. Thanks for sharing BrandShelter, I hadn’t heard of it before!

What specific type of monitoring are you looking for? Is it about expiration dates, SSL certificates, or availability of the domains? For backups and alerts on DNS changes, I’m not aware of a ready-made solution. However, you could set up a bash script that runs on schedule using the WHOIS API on your server.

As an MSP owner, I recommend using Zonewatcher for monitoring DNS record changes. It’s been reliable for us and we keep most of our client domains organized in Cloudflare folders. It's simple to keep track of changes this way!

Thanks! I’ll definitely check out Zonewatcher.
