I'm choosing between an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and an RX 9060 XT 16GB for my Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The RTX card costs only about £50 more where I'm buying, including overseas pricing. Which one would pair better with this CPU, and is the Nvidia card worth the extra money?

Before ordering, compare the total prices with faster cards such as the RX 9070, RX 9070 XT, or RTX 5070. Depending on UK pricing, the 5060 Ti and 9060 XT can get uncomfortably close to those models, which offer a much larger performance jump. If the next tier is still around £130 or more extra, though, the 5060 Ti is reasonable.
The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is more than powerful enough for either GPU, so there’s no compatibility or pairing issue. It is a high-end gaming CPU paired with a midrange graphics card, but if you already own the processor, keeping it is perfectly fine. For a new build, you could potentially spend less on the CPU and put more toward a 9070-class GPU, but that doesn’t make sense if the 7800X3D is already purchased.
The RX 9060 XT 16GB is still a good choice if saving money matters. Its regular rasterized performance is close, and features like FSR have improved a lot. You won’t go wrong with either card, but the RTX 5060 Ti is the stronger overall buy at this particular price difference.
At only £50 more, I’d go with the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. The two cards are fairly close in normal gaming, but the 5060 Ti is generally around 5–10% faster and also gives you DLSS, stronger ray tracing, and broader frame-generation support. The RX 9060 XT is usually the better value when it costs substantially less, but that price gap is small enough here that Nvidia makes more sense.
That was my thinking too. I expected the price difference to be larger, but with only £50 between them I’m leaning toward the 5060 Ti.
The RTX 5070 is about £130 more, and I’m buying from overseas, so I’m mainly deciding between these two.
